About 1.89 lakh trees have been cut for the construction of the Bundelkhand Expressway.
The Bundelkhand Expressway is approximately 296 km long. It is a four-lane road that will connect Etawah with NCR via Chitrakoot and Uttar Pradesh via Yamuna Expressway.
This has become clear in the RTI reply. Trees were cut in many places for the expressway such as Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Aurian, and Etawah.
The 296-km expressway will connect the districts of Etah and Chitrakoot and Uttar Pradesh in the National Capital Region via the 4-lane road Yamuna Expressway.
According to the senior manager of the forest department, 1,89,036 trees have been cut for the expressway project by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority.
But the Expressway Authority also planned to plant more than 2.70 lakh trees on the side of the expressway.
According to the divisional officer of the forest department, trees were cut for the expressway with the permission of the forest department.
Expressway will provide better connectivity
