We are well aware of the quote that the “way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. This is an ancient quote, which has proved its truthfulness in many cases. Did the ancient people know that the belly fat getting stored across the waistline has a direct connection to the heart diseases?

The people have allowed the fat to settle around the tummy, leading to a grave physical condition. However, the latest study has proven that the larger the jeans size, greater the worry. In fact, the protruding belly is a clear indication of the cardiac ailments especially to those who have a big belly but a lean structure otherwise. 

As per the new study conducted by Saffola Life, 7 out of 10 people residing in Delhi, who are less than 45 years old, have belly fat and are vulnerable to heart diseases. The study has also revealed that not only 66% of men in Delhi, but also 71% of the women with belly fat are on the verge of cardiac ailments. The startling fact about this condition is that most of the people are not even aware of the health risks associated with the belly fat. 

If a person is overweight and has a higher BMI, he or she will not be considered as healthy. According to the Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. H. K. Chopra, from the Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi, the visceral fat or the belly fat is the direct indicator of the of the CHD or Coronary Heart Diseases. He further stated that the abdominal girth of a woman and man must never cross 80cm and 90cm, respectively. 

Neelanjana Singh, a nutritionist stated that there is an intense correlation between belly fat and heart diseases. Hence, the reason to manage the belly fat must be stronger. She further suggested that a person must incorporate healthy oils in cooking the food items and must stay peaceful and active. He or she should never ignore sleep that helps boost metabolism and make the mind peaceful. She made it clear that losing belly fat is a crucial task in order to attain a sound cardiac health apart from enhancing the personality.

The Director and HOD of the Cardiology Department of Fortis Hospital, Noida, Dr. Suman Bhandari mentioned that it is important to avoid stress by embracing the proper methods of meditation and yoga. She also confirmed that stress is a primary contributing factor to the heart diseases and must be kept in control. She also blamed tobacco for the heart ailments. She also suggested keeping the blood pressure and sugar under control by opting for a healthy lifestyle, regular checkups, and embracing preventive measures.
